TAMPA - Kids Charity of Tampa Bay, Inc. has appointed Mike Congdon to serve as a marketing advisor to their Board of Directors. Congdon Competition is a Charlotte, NC based company that specializes in sports marketing, primarily with NASCAR race teams. With over 20 years of experience, Congdon has also represented athletes in other forms of sports as well. Kids Charity of Tampa Bay has already seen the advantage of sports marketing opportunities and the power and excitement athletes bring to their events.
“Each of the athletes we are involved with come to our charity with open arms and are very enthusiastic to help advance our mission to improve the lives of abused, abandoned, and neglected children,” said Wayne Witczak, Executive Director of Kids Charity of Tampa Bay. “Mike and I have worked together for several years to further charitable missions through the motorsport industry and we look forward to continuing that tradition for a long time to come. Athletes feel an urgent sense to give back to their communities and to those who support them in what they do. Creating shared values for all involved is a key element in making charities work.”
“Mike brings a lot of excitement and energy to our charity,” Witczak said. “He will be a great addition because his passion for serving our charity and what we are trying to accomplish is essential. Kids Charity of Tampa Bay will benefit from his vast knowledge by capitalizing on every opportunity presented to our charity.”
Congdon has built a career mentoring racing talent and placing corporate sponsorship with professional race teams. “People often wonder what sports and charities have in common,” he explained. “The only way to answer that is on-going exposure to millions of sports fans world-wide.”
“I’m extremely humbled, and very excited for the opportunity to serve such a worthy cause,” said Congdon. “I’ve yet to figure out which is more powerful: the look children get in their eyes when they meet a professional athlete for the first time, or the look athletes get in their eyes when they see the overwhelming joy they bring to a child. Together it’s a magic that stays with you!”
