Coach has had a diverse career starting with his military service during the Viet Nam era and celebrated work with 
severely and profoundly handicapped children and their families, when he worked at Western Carolina Center in Morganton, N.C. and later, recruited to the Administrative Office of the Courts in Hickory N.C. where he then worked with children in trouble with the law. After eleven years of dedicated service, he took a dramatic turn and co-purchased a gym and became a personal trainer. Having been promoted to Master Fitness Instructor, he was approached by a NASCAR team (Bill Elliott) and was asked for training advice. Later that year, the McDonald’s #94 Pit Crew won the World Championship Pit Crew Competition at Rockingham, N.C. and a great new career was formed and solidified.
